ARCHEAN EON | Date Undefined |
The Phanerozoic Eon (543 Ma to Present) comprises the Paleozoic,
Mesozoic, and Cenozoic Eras.
The Proterozoic plus the Archean may be called simply Precambrian Time.
The Earth was formed about 4,550 Ma, but the earliest known rocks are less than 4,000 Ma.
The interval from 4,550 Ma to about 4,000 Ma is sometimes known as the Hadian Eon.
This chart was modified from the 2004 time scale of the
International Commission on Stratigraphy, and other sources.
